Ask Microsoft 365 Copilot About Your WorkGuru Jobs
Check jobs, quotes, purchase orders, stock and invoices from Teams and Microsoft 365, and get the next step done without switching apps. Your IT admin sets it up once. After that, everyone just signs in.

What you can do
Ask about your jobs in plain English
Type a question into Copilot the way you’d ask your office manager. Copilot checks WorkGuru, answers with your live job data, and can take the next step for you.
Job costing
Catch jobs before they blow the budget
“Which jobs are running over budget this month?”
Get a list of jobs where costs are getting ahead of the quote, so you can step in while there’s still margin to save.
Stock
See shortages before they stop a job
“What stock will we be short on for jobs due Friday?”
See what you’re short on for upcoming jobs and who supplies it, so the order goes out today, not the day before.
Quoting
Follow up the quotes that went quiet
“Which quotes haven’t been answered in two weeks?”
Pull a follow-up list of stale quotes with the client and value, ready for someone to pick up the phone.
Purchasing
Receive deliveries without the walk to the office
“Receive PO 2291, everything except the 20mm fittings.”
Book a delivery in against its purchase order without walking back to the office, and leave out the lines that didn’t turn up.
Invoicing
Bill the work you’ve already done
“What work have we finished but not invoiced yet?”
Find unbilled work across your jobs and have Copilot draft the invoices, ready for you to check and approve.
Timesheets
Chase missing time before payroll
“Who hasn’t logged time this week?”
Spot the gaps in timesheets, then log hours against a job task straight from the chat.
Answers from WorkGuru, right where you already work
Copilot runs in Teams, Outlook and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. Ask a question and it pulls the answer from WorkGuru, then offers the next step, like drafting the purchase order.
- Live answers from your WorkGuru data, not a report from last week
- Quotes, invoices and purchase orders are created as drafts for you to review
- Works within each person’s own WorkGuru permissions
Two jobs are due Friday: J-1048 Mezzanine Platform and J-1052 Stair & Handrail. You’re short on three items:
| Item | Need | On hand | Supplier |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10mm plate 2400×1200 | 6 | 2 | Coastal Steel Supply |
| Galv angle 50×50×5 | 12 | 0 | Coastal Steel Supply |
| M16 bolt kit | 40 | 25 | Northside Fasteners |
Want me to draft a purchase order to Coastal Steel Supply for the plate and angle?
How it works
Built once. Then everyone just signs in.
There’s no software to roll out to your team. One person does the setup, and from then on it’s as simple as asking a question.
1
IT admin or developer · once
Build the agent
A developer or Microsoft 365 admin registers the WorkGuru sign-in, builds the WorkGuru agent and publishes it to your organisation.
2
Each person · first use
Sign in to WorkGuru
The first time someone uses the agent, they sign in with their own WorkGuru login. There’s nothing to install.
3
Everyone · every day

How to set up the WorkGuru Microsoft 365 Copilot integration
Setup is a one-off job for a developer or Microsoft 365 admin. Get the setup guide from WorkGuru before you start. It has every value you’ll need to enter.
1
Register the WorkGuru sign-in in the Teams Developer Portal
Add a sign-in registration for WorkGuru in the Teams Developer Portal. The setup guide has a table with the value for every field:
| Setting | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Client ID | Identifies the WorkGuru agent when it asks WorkGuru for access. |
| Sign-in address | Where each person is sent to sign in to WorkGuru the first time. |
| Token and refresh addresses | Swap the sign-in for secure access, then keep people signed in without asking again. |
| Scopes | The full list of read and write permissions the agent can request. They never go past the person’s own WorkGuru access. |
| PKCE | An extra check on the sign-in exchange, so a stolen code is useless on its own. |
| “Any Teams app” access | Lets the agent’s calls reach WorkGuru from Copilot. |
Don’t skip “Any Teams app”. Without it, the agent’s tool calls come back with a 404.
2
Build a declarative agent in VS Code
In VS Code, use the Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit to create a declarative agent. Give it the WorkGuru MCP server address from the setup guide, then attach the sign-in registration from step 1.
3
Provision, sign in and test
Provision the agent from the Agents Toolkit, open it in Copilot and sign in to WorkGuru. Then ask it which WorkGuru tenant it’s connected to. If it names your WorkGuru account, the connection is working.
4
Publish to your organisation
Publish the agent to your organisation so your team can find it in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Each person signs in to WorkGuru the first time they use it.
Good to know
- Copilot Studio isn’t supported yet. The integration uses a declarative agent built with the Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit in VS Code.
- The integration is in beta. WorkGuru is adding customers to the Beta Program in batches.
- An administrator has to allow AI agent connections in WorkGuru before anyone can use the agent.
What you’ll need
- Access to the Teams Developer Portal
- VS Code with the Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit
- The WorkGuru Microsoft 365 Copilot setup guide
Security and access
Copilot only sees what you can see in WorkGuru
Each person signs in with their own WorkGuru login, so Copilot works inside that person’s WorkGuru permissions. If someone can’t see job financials in WorkGuru, Copilot can’t show them either.
Your own login
Everyone signs in to WorkGuru as themselves the first time they use the agent. There’s no shared account.
Admins decide
An administrator has to allow AI agent connections before anyone can use Copilot with WorkGuru.
Never more access than you
The agent’s read and write scopes can never go past the person’s own WorkGuru permissions.
Drafts first, no deletes
Quotes, invoices and purchase orders are created as drafts for review, and the WorkGuru MCP server has no delete tools.
FAQs
WorkGuru Microsoft 365 Copilot integration questions
Who needs to set up the WorkGuru Microsoft 365 Copilot integration?
A developer or Microsoft 365 admin sets it up once for the whole organisation. They register the WorkGuru sign-in in the Teams Developer Portal, build a declarative agent in VS Code with the Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit, test it, then publish it to the organisation. WorkGuru’s setup guide lists every registration field.
Does every user need a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence?
The WorkGuru tools run as actions on a declarative agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. If you want Copilot to combine WorkGuru with your email, Teams chats and meetings, those Microsoft 365 knowledge sources need a full Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. Your Microsoft admin can confirm what your plan includes. Each person also needs their own WorkGuru login.
Is Microsoft Copilot Studio supported?
Not yet. The WorkGuru Microsoft 365 Copilot integration is built as a declarative agent with the Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit in VS Code. Copilot Studio isn’t supported at the moment.
What can Copilot see in WorkGuru?
Only what the signed-in person can see. Each person signs in with their own WorkGuru login, and the agent’s read and write scopes can never go past that person’s WorkGuru permissions. An administrator must allow AI agent connections before anyone can use it, and the WorkGuru MCP server has no delete tools.
How long does setup take?
Setup is a one-off job for a developer or Microsoft 365 admin. Most of the work is the sign-in registration in the Teams Developer Portal and the agent build in VS Code, and the time it takes depends on your Microsoft 365 environment. Once the agent is published, each person’s setup is just signing in to WorkGuru the first time they use it.
How do users sign in?
The first time someone uses the WorkGuru agent in Copilot, they’re asked to sign in to WorkGuru with their own login. After that they stay signed in, so they can just ask. Copilot only ever works within that person’s WorkGuru permissions.
