At a glance
The short version
| Evaluation | WorkGuru | Cin7 Core |
|---|---|---|
| Platform type | An industrial operations platform covering CRM, quoting, scheduling, purchasing, stock, timesheets and job costing, with the general ledger left to your accounting system. | An inventory, order, warehouse and manufacturing platform for product businesses, with CRM, purchasing, ecommerce integrations, POS, B2B, financials, job costing and optional automation and advanced manufacturing capability. |
| Best fit | Fabrication, engineering, manufacturing and project or workshop businesses where labour, materials, purchasing and operational control have a major impact on job margin. | Wholesalers, retailers, ecommerce businesses and manufacturers where SKUs, purchasing, warehouse stock, production and multichannel order fulfilment are central to the operating model. |
| Pricing model | A platform fee including the first 10 team members, with additional per-user pricing and optional modules that can be added as needed. | Cin7 currently publishes Core Standard at US$349/month for 5 users, Pro at US$599/month for 10 users and Advanced at US$1,199/month for 15 users. Order volumes, included integrations and advanced features vary by plan, with additional users, integrations and modules available separately. |
| Implementation | DIY, WorkGuru-assisted or partner-led implementation, depending on the complexity of the rollout. | Structured group, one-to-one and partner-led onboarding options are available. Cin7 says group onboarding typically takes 4–6 weeks and one-to-one onboarding 6–8 weeks, depending on business requirements. |
| Strongest when | The business needs one operational workflow across enquiries, quoting, projects, workshop planning, purchasing, stock, labour, job costing, compliance and automation without replacing its finance system. | The business needs product, purchasing, warehouse, manufacturing, ecommerce, B2B, POS and fulfilment workflows centred around inventory and sales orders, with MRP and more advanced production capability available as the operation grows. |
Platform purpose and scope
What each platform is for
WorkGuru
WorkGuru runs the operational work between winning a job and knowing what it made. Quote it, schedule it, buy for it, allocate stock, capture labour and materials, manage changes, and track job costs as the work happens. It is deliberately not an accounting or payroll system — those connect to it.
Cin7 Core
Cin7 Core runs product-centric operations across purchasing, inventory, sales orders, warehouse fulfilment, ecommerce channels, POS and manufacturing. It also includes CRM, job costing, financial functionality and optional workflow automation. Advanced Manufacturing adds production BOMs, work centres, resource capacity, production scheduling and shop-floor execution, while MRP connects demand with purchasing and production supply.
Best-fit use cases
- Wholesalers, retailers and ecommerce businesses managing significant SKU volumes across multiple sales channels
- Manufacturers needing BOMs, production orders, MRP, work centres, capacity planning and warehouse control
- Product businesses wanting purchasing, inventory, ecommerce, B2B, POS and fulfilment connected to the same stock record
Industries and typical customers
Manufacturers, retailers, ecommerce businesses and wholesalers are explicit target customers.

Commercials
Pricing, rollout and what it really costs
WorkGuru pricing, implementation and ownership
WorkGuru publishes modular pricing. The current commercial model is a platform fee including the first 10 users, additional per-user pricing, and optional modules such as Inventory, Workflow Automations and Advanced Forms. Use the live pricing page for current figures rather than duplicating numbers that can go stale. Buyers can start DIY, use WorkGuru-assisted onboarding, or use an implementation partner. Total ownership cost should be assessed across subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration – not subscription price alone.
Cin7 Core pricing
Cin7 publishes tiered USD pricing. Current published examples include Pro at US$599/month and Advanced at US$1,199/month, with user/order/integration limits and a number of add-ons. Omni is quote-based.
Implementation and time to value
Group, one-to-one and partner-led onboarding options are published. Professional services are available as an add-on.
Total cost and complexity of ownership
Plan limits, integrations, advanced warehouse, MRP, automations, APIs, B2B and professional services can affect total cost.
Switching
Moving from Cin7 Core to WorkGuru
Already using Cin7 Core? WorkGuru can scope a migration rather than assuming a greenfield setup. The migration plan should identify the records you need to bring across, what can be imported, what should remain as historical reference, integration cutover, training and go-live. Exact scope, timing and cost depend on the quality and structure of the source data and the implementation path selected. Do not promise that every historical record or configuration will migrate until the source data has been assessed.
The verdict
The matrix is evidence. This is the buying advice.
Where Cin7 Core is stronger
- Deep inventory and warehouse management including multi-location stock, serial and batch tracking, FIFO/FEFO controls and mobile WMS
- Formal manufacturing capability including BOMs, production orders, MRP, work centres, resource capacity, production Gantt scheduling and shop-floor execution
- Ecommerce, marketplace, B2B, POS, shipping and 3PL connectivity for businesses selling products through multiple channels
- Product replenishment and purchasing workflows centred around demand, suppliers, stock levels and fulfilment
- Native financial functionality and Cin7 Pay alongside Xero and QuickBooks integration options
Where WorkGuru is stronger
- Customer-project and job workflows where labour, materials, purchasing, changes and profitability need to stay connected throughout delivery
- Project templates, project and task Kanban, project chat, variations and general job timesheets rather than production-order-centric execution
- Operational compliance including forms, worker qualifications and project documentation in the same job-management workflow
- Operational asset management and preventative maintenance rather than financial fixed-asset accounting
- A project/workshop operating model for fabrication, engineering and industrial teams that do not need Cin7’s ecommerce, POS, WMS or formal MRP depth
Choose Cin7 Core if…
Choose Cin7 Core if stock, warehouse, product manufacturing and multichannel order fulfilment are the centre of the operation.
Choose WorkGuru if…
Choose WorkGuru if the main unit of work is the job or project and you need to coordinate people, workshop capacity, purchasing, materials and margin around each piece of customer work.
The bottom line
Cin7 Core can be the better choice when its core operating model matches the business. WorkGuru should win when the buyer needs a connected operational system around projects and workshop execution with a purpose-built industrial operations platform that can scale from SMB implementation through more structured assisted or partner-led rollouts.
FAQs
Cin7 Core questions
Is WorkGuru a replacement for Cin7 Core?
It can be when the business wants WorkGuru’s operating model and capability set. The right answer depends on which Cin7 Core workflows are actually used today, integrations, data migration and any specialist requirements that must remain elsewhere.
Can we migrate from Cin7 Core to WorkGuru?
Yes, migration can be scoped as part of implementation. What comes across, what remains as historical reference, timing and cost depend on the source data and agreed implementation plan.
Do we have to implement WorkGuru ourselves?
No. WorkGuru supports DIY implementation, WorkGuru-assisted onboarding and partner implementation. Choose the level of help that matches the complexity of the rollout.
How should we compare total cost?
Compare subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration. Avoid comparing a single licence price where the platforms package scope differently.
Is WorkGuru cheaper than Cin7 Core?
That depends on user count, modules, implementation scope and the systems each option replaces or still requires. Use current published pricing and a like-for-like implementation scenario rather than a blanket savings claim.
