Platform purpose and scope

What each platform is for

WorkGuru

WorkGuru runs the work between winning a job and knowing what it made. Quote it, schedule it, buy for it, book time and materials against it, and see the real cost while the job is still open rather than after invoicing. It is deliberately not an accounting system, a payroll system or a dispatch board — those connect to it.

Unleashed

Unleashed runs an inventory-led product business. Its centre of gravity is products, suppliers, purchasing, stock on hand, warehouses, sales orders, BOMs, assemblies, demand planning and fulfilment. Its newer Sales Growth, Marketing Accelerator and CRM modules extend it upstream into leads, quoting, pipeline management and customer retention, but its operating model remains product and inventory first. WorkGuru is built around jobs and projects first: labour, workshop capacity, purchases, consumed stock, variations, timesheets and live project profitability.

Best-fit use cases

  • Wholesalers, distributors and product businesses
  • Manufacturers running repeatable production and BOM-based inventory
  • Businesses needing strong multi-warehouse, stock, purchasing and order control

Industries and typical customers

Product-based businesses, wholesale, distribution and manufacturing are the clearest fit.

Commercials

Pricing, rollout and what it really costs

WorkGuru pricing, implementation and ownership

WorkGuru publishes modular pricing. The current commercial model is a platform fee including the first 10 users, additional per-user pricing, and optional modules such as Inventory, Workflow Automations and Advanced Forms. Use the live pricing page for current figures rather than duplicating numbers that can go stale. Buyers can start DIY, use WorkGuru-assisted onboarding, or use an implementation partner. Total ownership cost should be assessed across subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration – not subscription price alone.

Unleashed pricing

Unleashed publishes tiered plans plus optional paid modules for production/manufacturing, advanced inventory, warehouse management, B2B ecommerce, CRM and analytics. Consultative setup is also available as a one-off service.

Implementation and time to value

Cloud implementation with optional consultative setup and training. Complexity increases with warehouse, production, ecommerce and CRM modules.

Total cost and complexity of ownership

Base subscription can grow through production, warehouse, CRM, ecommerce, analytics and integration modules. Accounting remains a connected system.

Switching

Moving from Unleashed to WorkGuru

Already using Unleashed? WorkGuru can scope a migration rather than assuming a greenfield setup. The migration plan should identify the records you need to bring across, what can be imported, what should remain as historical reference, integration cutover, training and go-live. Exact scope, timing and cost depend on the quality and structure of the source data and the implementation path selected. Do not promise that every historical record or configuration will migrate until the source data has been assessed.

The verdict

The matrix is evidence. This is the buying advice.

Where Unleashed is stronger

  • Unleashed is materially deeper when inventory itself is the operating model, with perpetual quantity-on-hand, purchasing, warehouse transfers, stock counts, replenishment and product-level inventory controls at the centre of the platform
  • Its manufacturing model goes further for repeatable product production: multi-level BOMs, assemblies, sub-assemblies, disassembly, production jobs, component requirements and production planning are purpose-built around making stocked products
  • Advanced Inventory Manager is a genuine MRP capability, using sales orders, forecasts, planned production, BOMs and supplier lead times to generate optimised purchasing and production plans
  • Warehouse execution is stronger through the dedicated Warehouse Management module, including zone, aisle, rack, bay and bin locations, barcode scanning, receiving, putaway, picking, packing, stock checking and bin transfers
  • Batch and serial traceability is particularly mature for product businesses, including expiry dates, recall history, oldest-batch allocation and traceability from receipt or production through to sale
  • Unleashed has a stronger omnichannel product-sales ecosystem through its ecommerce hub and integrations with platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, Lightspeed and warehouse/logistics systems
  • Its newer Sales Growth, Marketing Accelerator and CRM modules mean buyers should no longer treat Unleashed as inventory-only software; it now has meaningful lead, pipeline, quoting, sales-task and customer-retention capability connected directly to live stock and margin data

Where WorkGuru is stronger

  • WorkGuru is the stronger fit when the business sells custom jobs and projects rather than predominantly buying, manufacturing and selling repeatable stocked products
  • Project delivery is much deeper: project templates, project and task Kanban, Gantt planning, project chat, documents, variations, timesheets and recurring jobs sit inside the same operating model
  • WorkGuru schedules labour and workshop capacity around real jobs through staff/resource scheduling and Work Areas for bays, machines and departments; Unleashed can assign Production Persons to assemblies but does not publish an equivalent project/workshop resource-planning layer
  • WorkGuru connects each labour hour, project purchase, consumed stock item, variation and invoice back to the profitability of the individual job, whereas Unleashed’s costing model is primarily product, assembly, inventory and sales-order oriented
  • Purchasing Against Projects is a native WorkGuru operating model. Unleashed can purchase components for assemblies, but that is materially different from procurement against substantial customer projects and their live project budgets
  • WorkGuru goes further outside inventory into operational compliance, qualifications, assets and preventative maintenance for businesses that both build and service equipment
  • WorkGuru’s workflow engine is a general user-configurable automation layer across operational records. Unleashed publishes useful fixed/status-driven notifications and production automations, but not an equivalent general trigger-condition-action workflow builder

Choose Unleashed if…

Choose Unleashed if the business is fundamentally inventory and product-led: buy stock, make or assemble products, manage warehouses and fulfil sales orders.

Choose WorkGuru if…

Choose WorkGuru if the business is fundamentally job/project-led: win custom work, plan people and workshop capacity, buy against the job, capture real labour/material cost and understand project profitability.

The bottom line

Unleashed can be the better choice when its core operating model matches the business. WorkGuru should win when the buyer needs a connected operational system around projects and workshop execution with a purpose-built industrial operations platform that can scale from SMB implementation through more structured assisted or partner-led rollouts.

FAQs

Unleashed questions

Is WorkGuru a replacement for Unleashed?

It can be when the business wants WorkGuru’s operating model and capability set. The right answer depends on which Unleashed workflows are actually used today, integrations, data migration and any specialist requirements that must remain elsewhere.

Can we migrate from Unleashed to WorkGuru?

Yes, migration can be scoped as part of implementation. What comes across, what remains as historical reference, timing and cost depend on the source data and agreed implementation plan.

Do we have to implement WorkGuru ourselves?

No. WorkGuru supports DIY implementation, WorkGuru-assisted onboarding and partner implementation. Choose the level of help that matches the complexity of the rollout.

How should we compare total cost?

Compare subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration. Avoid comparing a single licence price where the platforms package scope differently.

Is WorkGuru cheaper than Unleashed?

That depends on user count, modules, implementation scope and the systems each option replaces or still requires. Use current published pricing and a like-for-like implementation scenario rather than a blanket savings claim.

How this comparison was prepared

This page was prepared by WorkGuru and compares WorkGuru with Unleashed. Competitor product information should be based on publicly available sources and reviewed on the date shown above. Features, pricing and product capabilities can change. If information is disputed, review the underlying source and correct the page where required. Customer proof

[CUSTOMER PROOF REQUIRED] Prefer a named customer that moved from Unleashed, evaluated Unleashed, or replaced a comparable stack. Include the starting problem, why WorkGuru was selected, implementation path and a specific operational result. Do not invent migration or win-rate claims without approved evidence.

Checked 3 September 2026. WorkGuru verdicts are preserved from the supplied comparison page. Unleashed was re-audited against current first-party product documentation.

Scope note: Unleashed packages significant capabilities as optional first-party modules. FIFO is Partial because Unleashed supports oldest-batch allocation while its published inventory valuation method is Average Landed Cost. Project-related rows are deliberately conservative because assemblies and production assignments are not equivalent to project management.
