Software comparison
WorkGuru vs NetSuite
Compare WorkGuru with NetSuite for project and workshop businesses that need operational depth without making the workshop live inside a large ERP rollout.
At a glance
The short version
| Evaluation | WorkGuru | NetSuite |
|---|---|---|
| Platform type | A mature industrial operations platform covering quoting, scheduling, purchasing, stock, timesheets and job costing. All your operational and communications data in one place, with the general ledger left to your accounting system. | Full cloud ERP spanning financials, CRM, projects, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, ecommerce, field service, HR and analytics. |
| Best fit | Fabrication, engineering, manufacturing and project or workshop businesses, where the margin is won or lost on labour, materials and rework rather than on job volume. | Mid-market and larger organisations that want finance and multiple operating functions inside one enterprise ERP and can support a formal implementation. |
| Pricing model | Published per-user pricing in AUD and GBP, with modules you turn on as you need them, so you can price it before you talk to us. | Oracle NetSuite does not publish a simple standard subscription price for the complete ERP; pricing depends on edition, modules, users and implementation scope. |
| Implementation | DIY, WorkGuru-assisted or partner implementation. | Usually a formal ERP program involving process design, configuration, migration, integrations, testing, training and implementation partners or professional services. |
| Strongest when | The business needs a job-first industrial operating system connecting CRM, quoting, projects, workshop work, labour, purchasing, stock and live job profitability. | The business needs one enterprise system across financials, subsidiaries, CRM, supply chain, manufacturing, projects and broader corporate operations. |
Platform purpose and scope
What each platform is for
WorkGuru
WorkGuru runs the work between winning a job and knowing what it made. Quote it, schedule it, buy for it, book time and materials against it, and see the real cost while the job is still open rather than after invoicing. It is deliberately not an accounting system, a payroll system or a dispatch board — those connect to it.
NetSuite
NetSuite is a full cloud ERP rather than a specialist job-management product. It can cover CRM, project accounting, manufacturing work centres, MRP, procurement, RFQs, inventory, ecommerce, field service, HR, multi-company finance and statutory reporting in one suite. Its breadth is substantially greater than WorkGuru, but so are implementation scope, configuration effort and organisational overhead.
Best-fit use cases
- Mid-market and larger businesses needing integrated finance and operations
- Multi-entity, multi-location or international organisations
- Manufacturers and distributors needing broad ERP governance and supply-chain capability
Industries and typical customers
NetSuite serves many industries including manufacturing, wholesale distribution, professional services, retail and software.

Commercials
Pricing, rollout and what it really costs
WorkGuru pricing, implementation and ownership
WorkGuru publishes modular pricing. The current commercial model is a platform fee including the first 10 users, additional per-user pricing, and optional modules such as Inventory, Workflow Automations and Advanced Forms. Use the live pricing page for current figures rather than duplicating numbers that can go stale. Buyers can start DIY, use WorkGuru-assisted onboarding, or use an implementation partner. Total ownership cost should be assessed across subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration – not subscription price alone.
NetSuite pricing
NetSuite does not publish a simple standard subscription price for the full solution. Pricing depends on modules, users, edition and implementation scope and is quote-based.
Implementation and time to value
Usually a formal ERP implementation involving configuration, migration, process design, training and often implementation partners or professional services.
Total cost and complexity of ownership
TCO can include licensing, modules, implementation, integration, customisation, administration and support. This is a different buying category from a productised SMB operations platform.
Switching
Moving from NetSuite to WorkGuru
Already using NetSuite? WorkGuru can scope a migration rather than assuming a greenfield setup. The migration plan should identify the records you need to bring across, what can be imported, what should remain as historical reference, integration cutover, training and go-live. Exact scope, timing and cost depend on the quality and structure of the source data and the implementation path selected. Do not promise that every historical record or configuration will migrate until the source data has been assessed.
The verdict
The matrix is evidence. This is the buying advice.
Where NetSuite is stronger
- NetSuite is materially broader as an ERP, with native general ledger, statutory financials, multi-subsidiary consolidation and multi-currency that WorkGuru deliberately leaves to accounting systems
- Manufacturing depth is stronger where advanced BOMs, manufacturing routing, work centres, MRP and rough-cut machine/labour capacity planning are required
- Procurement is more formal, including native multi-vendor RFQs, vendor responses, side-by-side comparison and purchase contracts
- NetSuite supports broader enterprise inventory, warehouse, ecommerce and order-management requirements at scale
- Field service is a dedicated NetSuite workflow with schedule-board dispatch, technicians, assets and service operations
- SuitePeople and the wider NetSuite platform provide broader HR and enterprise administration than a job-management platform
Where WorkGuru is stronger
- WorkGuru is the stronger fit when a fabrication, engineering or project workshop wants operational control without turning the whole company into an ERP implementation
- WorkGuru’s CRM-to-quote-to-project-to-workshop workflow is more directly shaped around industrial job delivery and live margin rather than broad ERP configuration
- Project and task Kanban plus a workshop-first UX give day-to-day teams a more targeted visual operating model
- WorkGuru can be deployed while leaving general ledger, statutory reporting and payroll in specialist connected systems, reducing ERP scope
- For 5–500 person industrial teams whose main challenge is capturing labour, purchases and materials against jobs, WorkGuru is usually a more focused fit
- WorkGuru’s implementation can be materially lighter where the organisation does not need multi-subsidiary ERP, complex supply chain or enterprise HR
Choose NetSuite if…
Choose NetSuite if you need a full enterprise-wide ERP as the financial and operational system of record and are prepared for the implementation and governance that comes with it.
Choose WorkGuru if…
Choose WorkGuru if you need a strong operational execution layer for jobs and workshops without turning the project into an ERP implementation – or if the ERP can remain the system of record while WorkGuru runs operational work.
The bottom line
NetSuite can be the better choice when its core operating model matches the business. WorkGuru should win when the buyer needs a connected operational system around projects and workshop execution with a purpose-built industrial operations platform that can scale from SMB implementation through more structured assisted or partner-led rollouts.
FAQs
NetSuite questions
Is WorkGuru a replacement for NetSuite?
It can be when the business wants WorkGuru’s operating model and capability set. The right answer depends on which NetSuite workflows are actually used today, integrations, data migration and any specialist requirements that must remain elsewhere.
Can we migrate from NetSuite to WorkGuru?
Yes, migration can be scoped as part of implementation. What comes across, what remains as historical reference, timing and cost depend on the source data and agreed implementation plan.
Do we have to implement WorkGuru ourselves?
No. WorkGuru supports DIY implementation, WorkGuru-assisted onboarding and partner implementation. Choose the level of help that matches the complexity of the rollout.
How should we compare total cost?
Compare subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration. Avoid comparing a single licence price where the platforms package scope differently.
Is WorkGuru cheaper than NetSuite?
That depends on user count, modules, implementation scope and the systems each option replaces or still requires. Use current published pricing and a like-for-like implementation scenario rather than a blanket savings claim.
