Pricing modelPublished per-user pricing in AUD and GBP, with modules you turn on as you need them, so you can price it before you talk to us.Odoo publishes app-based subscription pricing, with costs varying by plan, users, hosting and implementation requirements; implementation/customisation can be a substantial part of total cost.
ImplementationDIY, WorkGuru-assisted or partner implementation. Can range from relatively light cloud setup to a substantial ERP-style implementation involving module configuration, localisation, data migration and custom development.
Strongest whenThe business needs a job-first industrial operating system connecting CRM, quoting, projects, workshop work, labour, purchasing, stock and live job profitability. The organisation wants a broad modular suite spanning finance, CRM, inventory, manufacturing, ecommerce, HR and operations rather than a specialised industrial job system.

Platform purpose and scope

What each platform is for

WorkGuru

WorkGuru runs the work between winning a job and knowing what it made. Quote it, schedule it, buy for it, book time and materials against it, and see the real cost while the job is still open rather than after invoicing. It is deliberately not an accounting system, a payroll system or a dispatch board — those connect to it.

Odoo

Odoo is a broad modular business suite. With the relevant apps enabled it can cover CRM, web lead capture, projects, Gantt and Kanban planning, work centres, MRP, inventory, purchasing and tenders, accounting, online payments, ecommerce, POS, field service, maintenance, employees, certifications and automation. It is much broader than WorkGuru as a software suite, but achieving that breadth typically requires more module selection, configuration and implementation.

Best-fit use cases

  • Businesses wanting one highly extensible suite across many departments
  • Organisations prepared to configure apps and workflows around their processes
  • Companies wanting ERP breadth without moving to a traditional high-cost enterprise suite

Industries and typical customers

Odoo is horizontal and serves micro, small, midsized and large businesses across many industries rather than specialising in fabrication and engineering.

Commercials

Pricing, rollout and what it really costs

WorkGuru pricing, implementation and ownership

WorkGuru publishes modular pricing. The current commercial model is a platform fee including the first 10 users, additional per-user pricing, and optional modules such as Inventory, Workflow Automations and Advanced Forms. Use the live pricing page for current figures rather than duplicating numbers that can go stale. Buyers can start DIY, use WorkGuru-assisted onboarding, or use an implementation partner. Total ownership cost should be assessed across subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration – not subscription price alone.

Odoo pricing

Odoo publishes user-based pricing for access to all apps, with regional pricing varying. Implementation, migration, customisation and partner services are separate considerations.

Implementation and time to value

Can range from self-started use to substantial partner-led implementation. The implementation burden depends heavily on the number of apps, customisation and process change required.

Total cost and complexity of ownership

Software licensing can be attractive relative to larger ERPs, but TCO can increase with implementation, custom modules, integration work and ongoing administration.

Switching

Moving from Odoo to WorkGuru

Already using Odoo? WorkGuru can scope a migration rather than assuming a greenfield setup. The migration plan should identify the records you need to bring across, what can be imported, what should remain as historical reference, integration cutover, training and go-live. Exact scope, timing and cost depend on the quality and structure of the source data and the implementation path selected. Do not promise that every historical record or configuration will migrate until the source data has been assessed.

The verdict

The matrix is evidence. This is the buying advice.

Where Odoo is stronger

  • Odoo is broader as an all-in-one suite, with native accounting, statutory reporting, multi-company finance, ecommerce, POS and HR available in the same ecosystem
  • Manufacturing depth is stronger where work centres, capacity, MRP, BOMs, routing and maintenance are required
  • Its procurement workflow includes native alternative RFQs and side-by-side product-line comparison across vendors
  • Odoo has genuine native ecommerce and POS rather than relying on narrower counter-sales or integrations
  • Employee certifications can be recorded with validity periods, and Australian payroll localisation is published for supported payroll flows
  • Odoo Studio/automation rules provide a broad configurable automation environment across many apps

Where WorkGuru is stronger

  • WorkGuru is the stronger fit when a fabrication or engineering workshop wants an opinionated lead-to-job-to-margin operating system instead of configuring a broad ERP suite
  • WorkGuru’s project, purchasing, stock, labour and live-job-profitability workflows are packaged specifically around industrial job delivery
  • The Work Areas, project templates, project/task Kanban and workshop scheduling model can be simpler to adopt for fabrication businesses than assembling equivalent Odoo modules
  • WorkGuru deliberately leaves the general ledger and payroll to connected specialist systems, reducing implementation scope where a business already uses Xero/MYOB/QuickBooks
  • For smaller industrial teams, WorkGuru can provide strong operational depth without the governance, administration and configuration overhead of a general ERP platform
  • WorkGuru’s support and product language are directly oriented to fabrication, engineering and project workshops rather than every business category

Choose Odoo if…

Choose Odoo if your goal is to consolidate a very broad set of business functions into one configurable ERP platform and you are comfortable investing in configuration and governance.

Choose WorkGuru if…

Choose WorkGuru if the main problem is operational execution – quoting, jobs, workshop planning, labour, purchasing, inventory and profitability – and you want a product that is already shaped around that job rather than a general-purpose ERP toolkit.

The bottom line

Odoo can be the better choice when its core operating model matches the business. WorkGuru should win when the buyer needs a connected operational system around projects and workshop execution with a purpose-built industrial operations platform that can scale from SMB implementation through more structured assisted or partner-led rollouts.

FAQs

Odoo questions

Is WorkGuru a replacement for Odoo?

It can be when the business wants WorkGuru’s operating model and capability set. The right answer depends on which Odoo workflows are actually used today, integrations, data migration and any specialist requirements that must remain elsewhere.

Can we migrate from Odoo to WorkGuru?

Yes, migration can be scoped as part of implementation. What comes across, what remains as historical reference, timing and cost depend on the source data and agreed implementation plan.

Do we have to implement WorkGuru ourselves?

No. WorkGuru supports DIY implementation, WorkGuru-assisted onboarding and partner implementation. Choose the level of help that matches the complexity of the rollout.

How should we compare total cost?

Compare subscription, onboarding, migration, training, integrations and ongoing administration. Avoid comparing a single licence price where the platforms package scope differently.

Is WorkGuru cheaper than Odoo?

That depends on user count, modules, implementation scope and the systems each option replaces or still requires. Use current published pricing and a like-for-like implementation scenario rather than a blanket savings claim.

Include the starting problem, why WorkGuru was selected, implementation path and a specific operational result. Do not invent migration or win-rate claims without approved evidence.

Checked 3 September 2026. WorkGuru verdicts are preserved from the supplied comparison page. Odoo was re-audited against current first-party product documentation.

Scope note: Odoo is assessed across its current first-party application suite rather than a single app. Some capabilities require installing/configuring additional Odoo apps, and implementation/localisation scope can vary materially by country and edition.
